This blog covers the troubling experience of working with Byron Delgado, a freelancer whose initial contributions led to poor code quality, technical debt, and, ultimately, fraudulent behavior. Despite mounting evidence of falsified time entries (such as repeated patterns of idle computer activity, auto typer use, and minimal input), Byron denied all wrongdoing, even after Upwork ruled in favor of the client and refunded the disputed hours. His claims that financial constraints limited his output are contradicted by the recorded patterns showing deliberate idleness.

Rather than addressing the issues and leveraging the available budget to improve the project, Byron engaged in deceptive practices that caused over 175 hours of rework. His refusal to acknowledge these actions or take responsibility reflects a troubling denial of facts, leaving the client disappointed and the project in disarray. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance, transparency, and accountability when collaborating remotely.
