Cisco has released an improved version of the Click-To-Call widget version 8.1 (Updated) (Release Notes). This plug-in allows you to use Internet Explorer, Firefox and Office 2003/2007 applications to launch calls to Cisco UC phones. The plug-in works flawlessly to allow for quick dialing and triggering of you’re desktop or Cisco IP SoftPhone.
The setup is minimal on UC and requires a bit of tweaking with Dial Plans and SOAP interface changes. I was able to get this plug-in up and running with the older firmware 126.96.36.199-16 and the newer 8.1 client which is backwards compatible. The software prerequisites are supplied with the Click to Call executable file. However, if you are installing the Click to Call MSI file, you must install these prerequisites before you begin the installation. The prerequisite software is available from the Microsoft website.
