This page lists the cookies blog.infostruction.com sets or allows, and what each one is for. It covers cookies in the ordinary sense as well as similar browser storage.
Cookies the site sets
Security cookies. Four cookies with randomised names are set on every page view by the WP Cerber security plugin. The names change, which is deliberate: it makes them harder for automated tools to recognise and work around. They are used to tell a real browser from a bot and they carry no information about you. They expire after a day.
Comment cookies. If you leave a comment, WordPress offers to remember your name, email address and website so you do not have to retype them. These are set only if you comment, they stay on your own device, and they last about a year. Declining them does not stop you commenting.
Translation. Selecting a language through the translation widget sets a cookie recording that choice so the site stays in that language as you move between pages.
Cookies third parties may set
Google Tag Manager. The site loads Google Tag Manager, which may load measurement tools such as Google Analytics. Where it does, those tools set their own cookies, governed by Google’s policies rather than this one. The site itself does not read them.
There are no advertising or retargeting cookies, and nothing here tracks you across other websites on this site’s behalf.
Controlling cookies
Every current browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block future ones, usually under settings named Privacy or Site Data. Blocking cookies from this site does not stop you reading it. Blocking the security cookies may cause the protection to treat you as suspicious, which can mean extra checks.
If you want to avoid the third-party cookies specifically, a content blocker that blocks Google Tag Manager will prevent them being set.
