Sections include,

* Management and Monitoring
* High Availability
* Mailbox Server Role
* Client Access Server Role
* Unified Messaging Server Role
* Hub Transport Server Role
* Edge Transport Server Role

The poster can be printed for availability in offline scenarios, when users will want to quickly look at the architecture and feature set of Exchange Server 2010. A few pieces are missing from these diagrams including:

* Internal clients, e.g. Outlook, OWA;
* UM connections to PBX;
* Client Access Server connections to OCS;
* For Hub-Hub, CAS-CAS or Edge-Edge, I’ve included a 2nd Hub/CAS/Edge server only mentioning ports used for Hub-Hub, CAS-CAS and Edge-Edge communications.

“We’re pleased to let you know that the Exchange Server 2010 Architecture Poster is now available for download in all its 36″ x 24″ goodness,” revealed Microsoft’s Astrid McClean.

“The poster helps you understand how the major components of Exchange 2010 work and serves as a quick reminder and a learning tool. The printed version also looks really impressive on your wall!”

Customers will be able to look over the high-level architecture, but also get information on additional capabilities such as management and monitoring, but also a number of roles, including: the unified messaging server role, the mailbox server role, the client access server role, the edge transport server role, the hub server transport role and high availability.

“Those of you headed to Berlin for TechEd Europe next month will be able to pick up your very own full-size glossy version from the Unified Communications booth,” McClean promised.

In the second half of August 2010, the Redmond company released the RTM version of Service Pack 1 for Exchange Server 2010.

SP1 is a free upgrade offered to all customers running Exchange Server 2010.

Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) RTM is available for download here.
